Elton John
★ 현재 영국 팝계를 대표하는 작곡가이자 가수인 엘튼죤은 1947년 3월 25일 영국 미들섹스 피너주 (55 Pinner Hill Road, Middlesex England) 에서 태어났다. Elton John은 가명이고 본명은 Reginald Kenneth Dwight. Reginald는 외삼촌의 이름이라고... 그 이름이 마음에 안 들었는지 외삼촌이 마음에 안 들었는지 Bluesology시절 섹스폰 연주자 Elton Dean과 보컬 John Baldry 의 이름을 하나씩 따서 Elton John이라고 이름을 바꾼다.
4살때부터 피아노를 배우기 시작한 엘튼 죤은 11살때 영국 왕립 음악 학교 (Royal Academy of Music (1958-1964)에 수석으로 입학하였으나 중도에 대중 음악을 하기 위해 학교를 그만 둔다. 그후 1960년 친구들과 Corvettes라는 밴드 조직해서 활동하다,나중에 Bluesology로 합쳐진다. 밴드에서 엘튼 죤은 키보드를 담당했었다.(당연하지;; 그럼 기타를 쳐쓸까;;;;) 1967년 Bluesology를 그만둔 엘튼 죤은 본격적으로 버니 토핀과의 작업을 시작한다. 버니 토핀은 엘튼 죤에 대해 이야기할때 절대 빠질 수 없는 엘튼 죤과 30여년간 함께 작업 해온 작사가이다. Beatles의 존 레논과 폴 메카트니 콤비만큼 위대한 콤비이다.
