1. It takes a careful police work to solve a crime and it takes strong evidence to make the charge stick and bring the criminal to justice. But constable in Plymouth, England has come up with a high tech way of collecting indisputable evidence when a lawbreaker is caught in the act. Paula Newton explains.

2. The 'bobby's' helmet is as old as police work itself but now it's joining the digital age. Armed with a small camera, so when Britain’s 'bobbies' catch criminals all of it can be caught on tape. This is what we call the 'bobby cam' from the drunken brawl that's broken up to all the arrests that follow. The police officer's helmet camera is recording valuable evidence.

Police constable Colin Pryce helped pilot the head camera project in Plymouth, England.
“There's a microphone fitted inside of this.”
3. He's been amazed at how the cameras have transformed his job. Less paperwork, more time on the beat?

“Definitely it makes a big difference, we don't have to document as much."
4. We walked the beat with constable Pryce to see how it all works.
“From where I’m standing I think I can see someone who I know to be wanted."
Off he goes all of it caught on camera.
"You are alright? Just been checking you on the system. I'm arresting you now on the grounds of that warrant."
5. Later he reviews the arrest on a digital recorder that he will, then, hand in at the end of his shift, so the video can be saved for court. While crime prevention is still a goal of this program it's been very effective in gathering evidence that helps with prosecutions and convictions.

3. 바비캠 덕분에 일이 놀랍게 변했습니다.
(질문) 서류 작업이 줄고, 현장 근무가 늘었다 구요?
-네, 그렇습니다. 예전처럼 서류 작업이 많지 않습니다.
4. 프라이스 경관을 따라 해변 순찰을 나갔습니다.
"여기서 지명수배자를 보게 될 지 모릅니다."
그가 어디를 가든 카메라에 담깁니다.
"괜찮은가요? 잠시 신원 조회가 있겠습니다. 당신을 현장 체포합니다."
5. 나중에 체포 장면을 디지털 녹화기로 보고, 교대조에 건네줘 법원 증거 자료로 제출합니다. 범죄 예방이 바비캠 도입의 본래 취지이지만, 검찰과 기소 과정에 필요한 증거 자료 수집에 매우 유용하게 사용되고 있습니다. 논란의 여지가 없는, 이렇게 확실한 증거 자료가 있어야 유죄 확정률이 높아집니다.
6. 경찰은 바비캠 덕분에 범죄가 줄고 있다고 말합니다. 실제로 폭력 범죄가 8%나 감소해 그 효과를 증명해보이고 있습니다.
